Global Goals Week & World Environmental Health Day: A September of Action for a Sustainable Future

September is not just another month - it’s Global Goals Month, a worldwide call to action to drive awareness and accountability for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Running from 19–28 September 2025, Global Goals Week brings together individuals, businesses, and communities to showcase their commitment to building a more sustainable future.

At the same time, 26 September marks World Environmental Health Day (WEHD), with the 2025 theme “Clean Air, Healthy People” - reminding us of the urgent need to reduce air pollution and protect public health.

Together, these global initiatives provide the perfect opportunity for organisations, communities, and individuals to unite for sustainability, conservation, and healthier living.

Global Goals Week – 19–28 September 2025

Global Goals Week is an annual week of action, awareness, and accountability for the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. From poverty reduction to climate action, this week amplifies the need for urgent progress.

Key Highlights:

  • SDG Action Weekend (16–17 September): A platform for dialogue, workshops, and collaborations driving practical solutions.

  • SDG Flag Day (25 September): A chance to raise the SDG flag at your workplace, school, or community to showcase your commitment. Sharing your flag online with the official hashtag spreads awareness and inspires collective action.

Businesses can take part by promoting sustainability practices such as water saving, energy efficiency, and reducing waste. One simple example is Wizso, a water-saving product that reduces the need for unnecessary toilet flushing. By helping households and workplaces conserve water, Wizso demonstrates how everyday innovations can make a real difference. These small actions support the wider Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

World Environmental Health Day – 26 September 2025

The International Federation of Environmental Health (IFEH) established World Environmental Health Day to highlight the critical role environmental health plays in our lives.

2025 Theme: Clean Air, Healthy People

Objectives for the day include:

  1. Promoting awareness and action on the impact of clean air on public health, with a focus on air pollution, climate change, and respiratory health.

  1. Using case studies, workshops, school activities, and media outreach to highlight how environmental health interventions can improve air quality and protect people worldwide.

The Link Between Water Conservation and Environmental Health

Clean air and clean water are deeply connected. Reducing waste, saving water, and minimising pollution all strengthen our environmental resilience. With innovations like Wizso, individuals can cut down on unnecessary toilet flushing, reducing both water consumption and environmental impact - making it an accessible step towards achieving the SDGs.
